Brisbane BeachesThe Brisbane area is home to some of the world's most stunning, clean, sandy beaches and uninterrupted coastlines, many of which are close to Brisbane city centre. To the north of Brisbane, the world-famous Sunshine Coast runs for more than 70 km / 44 miles from the top of Bribie Island to the north of Noosa, and to the south of Brisbane, the Gold Coast stretches 35 km / 22 miles between Surfers' Paradise and the New South Wales (NSW) border.

Both of these coastal areas are within easy driving distance of Brisbane city centre, attracting locals, visitors and tourists staying in Brisbane. The spacious beaches in Brisbane are the perfect place to relax, sunbathe or swim, and many of Brisbane's beaches regularly feature strong waves, making them popular for surfing.




Brisbane BeachesBrisbane's stunning Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast beaches have excellent facilities, and these include beachside restaurants, street cafés, wine bars, water sports, sailing, beach games, surfing, outdoor picnic tables, barbecue facilities and seasonal beach events. Many beach inspectors regularly patrol Brisbane's glorious beaches during the summer months and a number of friendly volunteer lifesavers are often on-hand during the weekends.

The beaches of Brisbane and nearby areas, combined with sheltered, clear bathing waters - which are ideal for scuba diving and snorkelling, have always been one of the major tourist attractions in Brisbane.
